Volunteers are the backbone of all successful organizations.

How to Volunteer

There are many opportunities to volunteer.

The CT Breast Health Initiative relies on year-round volunteers to help raise funds and promote the organization. Some of the ways you can help are listed below, including planning opportunities for the 2014 RACE. Please add additional ways you would like to help in the comments section on the volunteer sign up link at the top or bottom of this page.

Children’s Events – helping to organize events for children on RACE Day.

College Committee – working with local colleges to involve students in our efforts to raise funds for research.

Data Base Maintenance – assisting in keeping the database current.

Event Planning/ Fundraising – serving on a committee to explore ways to increase our visibility and raise funds outside of our major fundraisers (RACE and Golf Tournament). Helping “staff” our booth at events such as the Berlin Fair, Car Show, East Lyme Festival, etc.

General Volunteer – helping out when needed in the office, at events, etc.

Graphic Artist/ Photoshop Expert – Assisting in preparing graphic material and pictures for our website.

High School Committee – working with the local high schools to engage students in volunteer opportunities with the organization.

Memorial Committee – developing a brochure and material for people who wish to make a memorial donation to the organization.

Office Help/ Clerical/ Computer – assisting in the office during the busy times with mailings, answering the phone, etc.

Publicity – helping to write and submit articles to state-wide newspapers about CT BHI

RACE 2014 Committee Member – serving on the Planning Committee for the 2014 RACE in the Park

Sponsor Committee – working with the Sponsor Chair to find Sponsors for our major fundraisers

Survivor Activities – working with the Survivor Chairs to plan activities for survivors and keep Survivors informed of programs available for them in the community.

Team Development and Support – work with Team Chairs to support and encourage the formation of teams for the RACE

Town Ambassador Committee – work to find and assist Town Ambassadors to promote CT BHI activities throughout their community – especially the RACE and Golf Tournament.
