Individual Mail Registration or Delivered Registrations must be at our office by May 1, 2013
Entry fees are non-refundable. This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds. Your entry fee will be used as a donation to the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc.

CELEBRATE SURVIVORS


Survivor In-SPA-rational EventCelebrate Survivors

Breast Cancer Survivors are the honored participants at the CT RACE in the Park.  Continental breakfast, mini manicures, chair massages and more await Registered Survivors and their families at the event.  The open house will be from 8 – 10 am in the Survivor Tent.  A Survivor’s Group Photo will take place at 9 am.

On RACE morning (or the day before) you may pick up your survivor pink t-shirt, bib number, back signs and embroidered pink ribbons for your hats – each ribbon signifying one year of survivorship – at the Registration Tent.  If you are a new Survivor you may pick up your pink baseball cap.  We encourage all other Survivors who have had hats in the past to wear that one and pick up your new ribbon.

Be part of SEEDS OF HOPE… the hope to find a cure for breast cancer by providing seed money for ground breaking research we are funding in Connecticut. SEEDS OF HOPE is a special level of RACE Registration. Please arrive early for the shuttle bus, to find parking, to browse the Merchandise Tent and the Pink Ribbon Auction tent, to stretch your muscles and to help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary and the many breast cancer survivors. Parking directions are listed below.

HAPPENINGS ON RACE DAY


T-shirts: The first 6,000 registered participants will receive an official 2013 RACE T-shirt.
Free Refreshments: Refreshments provided by some of our sponsors for registered participants. You will need your RACE bib to gain entrance into the Refreshment tent.

Picnic in the Park: Additional food will be available for purchase from various local food vendors beginning at 9:00 a.m.  The following vendors/restaurants will be participating:
  • Ben Vinci – Fried Dough, Soda, Lemonade, Water
  • Capital Lunch – Hot Dogs, Chips, Water

Kids Expo: Activities for kids 12 years old and under are listed below:

Pink Ribbon Auction: Visit the Silent Auction and Raffle tent to bid on great items and to purchase raffle tickets. Raffle tickets will be $5 for 10 tickets.  The Silent Auction will close at 11:00am. Raffle winners will be announced at noon. Items can be claimed as soon as winners are announced. Winners need not be present to win.

TIMING DETAILS


For the 2013 5K races we will be using the B-Tag timing system.

This revolutionary technology is touted as “the world’s most advanced timing system.” The tag attaches to the runner’s bib, no need to use your shoelaces, no need to return the chip at the completion of the RACE. There is no longer a need to pick up a chip before the RACE; it comes attached to your bib.

5K RUN COURSE Sponsored by


For a printable map of the 5K Race route please click Here! The course is the same as last year, with the start line between the intersection of Lexington St/Walnut Hill Park Road, and the rear of the New Britain Museum of American Art under the balloon arch.

1 Mile & 4K WALK COURSE Sponsored by


The 1 Mile & 4K Walk course begin and end at the CT RACE IN THE PARK start/finish line under the balloon arch. Walkers will make one complete loop of the Park road for the 1 Mile Walk, or exit the Park road for the 4K walk.  Click Here for a printable map of the 4K Walk.  It is NOT the same route as the 5K Races.

KIDS’ CHALLENGE 


Kids’ 1 Mile Run: A challenging event for children age 12 and younger. Meet at the start line by 8:35 a.m. for a prompt 8:45 a.m. start.  The route is approximately one loop around the park.
Kids’ Fun Run: Three age divisions for children 12 years old and under. Meet at the starting line at 8:45 a.m. for a prompt 8:50 a.m. start. Line up by age divisions, 10-12 first, followed by 6-9 and then 0-5 (with adult).  The route is along the park road for several hundred yards.

T-SHIRT & BIB NUMBER PICKUP


ALL participants must pick up their bib first at the Registration Tent as listed below, unless during online registration a request was made for the bib and T-shirt be mailed to you.  Bibs and T-shirts must be picked up at the T-shirt Tent on the day before or on RACE morning  in Walnut Hill Park:
Friday | May 10th, 2013 | 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. before RACE day
Saturday | May 11, 2013 | Starting at 6:30 a.m. RACE day
ALL participants have the option when registering to have their bib and t-shirt mailed to their registration address. Sign up for this when registering.
Team Captains of teams with 10 or more participants may request early pickup of ALL their team materials. Arrangements must be made by May 1, 2013 by email to teams@ctbhi.org.

FACILITIES


General Information Center: An Information and Lost & Found center will be located in the Volunteer Tent . 2013 CT RACE IN THE PARK volunteers will be there to answer all of your questions.
Baggage Hold: Participants may leave a bag at our Baggage Tent. Please pick up your items as soon as possible after your event. All items must be picked up by 1:00 p.m. The 2013 CT RACE IN THE PARK is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unclaimed baggage. Thanks to the Jr. League of Greater New Britain for coordinating this tent.
Rest Room Facilities: Will be available at several locations. Handicap facilities are located in the park and at the finish line.
RACE Timing & Results: Preliminary results will be posted after each race at the Awards Tent located right in back of the stage at the start/finish line. RACE results will be posted on the 2013 CT RACE IN THE PARK website as soon as volunteer time permits at www.ctbhi.org/the-race/race-results
Water Stations: will be in the park, on the race course outside of the park, and just after the finish line.
First Aid: New Britain EMS will provide medical aid on the course and at the start/finish line.

PARKING


Ample parking for the RACE will be available in the two downtown New Britain garages (Courthouse, and Washington/Columbus Boulevard Garages). Convenient shuttle buses will make continuous trips between the RACE site and these parking areas. Participants should go directly to the above parking facilities. Directions are below.
Directions to the Garages:
Courthouse Garage ( Linda Blogoslawski Garage) From locations North and East of New Britain: Take Rte 84 West to Exit 39A onto Rte 9 South. Continue to Exit 27 – Chestnut Street (left exit). Turn right off the exit and turn left onto Columbus Blvd. Follow signs to the Courthouse Parking Garage.
Washington/Columbus Boulevard Parking Garage (John N. Badolato Garage) From locations south of New Britain, take route 9 north to exit 26 (Downtown exit). At the end of the ramp, go straight ahead through four traffic lights and the garage is on the left.
The last bus leaving Walnut Hill Park for the return trip to the garages will be at 1:30 p.m.! Don’t miss the bus!
