2011 Pink in the Park Day

The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative and New Britain Rock Cats will be hosting their annual “Pink in the Park Day” at the New Britain Stadium on Sunday, May 1, 2011 as the Rock Cats host the Harrisburg Senators. This is a kick-off event for the Race in the Park taking place on Saturday, May 7th which supports CTBHI’s fight to beat breast cancer in Connecticut.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink and the Rock Cats players will wear their customary pink game day jerseys.
As part of the Pink in the Park celebration, breast cancer survivors will be honored on the field during the pre-game festivities. Each survivor will be greeted by a Rock Cats player and will be presented with a recognition gift. For the game’s ceremonial first pitch, the survivors will stay on the field and will throw a baseball to their respective Rock Cat player. Each survivors name and years of survivorship will be announced and displayed on the scoreboard.

This annual event to honor all breast cancer survivors and their families with the support of the Rock Cats organization is a moving experience. Pink shirts, pink hats and all things pink can be found both on and off the field. This partnership between CTBHI and the Rock Cats is one that will hope to continue for many years to come in an effort to support breast cancer awareness and research. After that, on-line purchases will have to be picked up at the will-call window at the stadium.
